Surprisingly pristine – I have had this surface for almost two years now and it continues to be the most useful thing I have ever bought off amazon. The refurbisher (RBM) did a fantastic job and when it arrived it was like a new machine. It has some problems at times, but nothing that a new machine wouldn’t (every computer has some “eccentricity”). I was surprised to find I could even play things like “the sims” on it. I bought it to use asan art tablet exclusively, but it just ended up becoming my main pc.

Good “renewed” machine – I bought this with the type cover as a laptop replacement and web surfing/video watching tablet. It is a little bulky, and I like the size of the iPad better, but I do not like iOS and prefer Windows in general. Windows 10 runs smoothly on this machine for my uses, and works fine in either tablet or laptop mode. The screen is nice and crisp, the boot-up is quick, and the type cover has a good feel and is easy to use as far as these small keyboards go. I considered the Samsung Galaxy tab line, and the Kindle Fire, but I prefer surfing with a Windows machine and find Android a little annoying. As a “renewed” product, I have found no cosmetic or performance issues, and I have had no reliability issues here in the first 30 days.

Not actually 256 GB! – I ordered the Microsoft Surface Pro Intel i5-7300U 2.6GHz 8GB 256GB SSD Win 10 Pro (Renewed). Upon unboxing I realized that the device has practically 0 firmware for any devices. This is important to note because unless you have a USB keyboard or mouse (and maybe usb to ethernet, i used a surface dock with hardwired ethernet) you cannot complete the setup because the touchscreen does not work until you connect to the internet and run windows update. ( not a big deal just be prepared) The second note of concern was the fact that it was advertised as 256 gb. This partially true… The surface came with a 128 mini SD card that paired with the built in 128 SSD did make it 256. Again not completely false but I would expect to have a full 256 gb on my “C” drive.

Al though the first one was defective (keeps disconnecting from internet, shuts off on its own), the second one was damaged when I received it as the picture shows. I understand that Amazon is a big company, however when you purchase something that states it is “Amazon Renewed”, Amazon should make sure that the company contracted to do the work is performing that work to Amazons own high standards. I received this item in a cardboard box with nothing more than a plastic sleeve around the item and some paper in the box. There was ZERO chance this item was going to arrive at ANY patron’s door undamaged. Amazon should fire this seller.
