Dell g15 purchase overall 4/5. – Okay, so it does come with a 3060, however it is just the mobile. So don’t get too excited. This machine runs great so far. It has a wonderful display to my surprise. The key board layout is nice and quiet compared to other gaming laptops I’ve owned. Con- the battery will get you like 3 hours maybe 4 if you are smart. It’s heavy but not to heavy. Tbh the charger is also a little bulky. Also the ssd slot does not come with a spare bracket. Fun fact you can buy the bracket and copper heat plate on Amazon. You will need both if you wish to install a nicer ssd. Over all great machine for the price, especially if you wait for a sale.

This is a beautiful piece of computer engineering at a price I could afford – I replaced my faithful, dual boot, 2013 MacBook Air – which served me well for nearly 10 years and still runs today, albeit with some technology lags and failures that are more related to its capacity to keep up with OS and software advances over the intervening years. I needed to have something portable, not too heavy for my personal mobile computing. However, I work in complex and advanced 3D design, modeling and AI, so ideally, my mobile personal machine had to have a dedicated graphics adapter. This meant compromising some of the weight and battery life so I could flick over to a work assignment right there on my laptop when the need dictated. The G15 is a perfect machine for this. Fits perfectly in a small carry bag. Sports a nVidia GeForce RTX 3060 (6GB VRAM) with amazing heat management features that have obviously developed from their exceptional Alienware stable. What is really amazing is taking a personal mobile computing machine out of the bag and experiencing the modern Windows11 experience and changes! Oh my gosh, it is so fast and beautiful. The changes since I last upgraded from Win7 to Win10 and now Win11 are incredible. Being a Chrome browser for years, I thought I would experience what MS has done with Edge on this new hardware and latest OS – incredible! The experience has been amazing. Microsoft under Satya is to be commended – I am loving it! My G15 sports a 12th Gen, 14 CORE i7. It is lightning fast and with some of my work requirements, having access to 20 threads will be a huge advantage for those times I need to browse alongside my work! Finally, this little, Prime Day powerhouse steal, came with a full keyboard! Do you know how rare that is in this, lower-end price range, personal computer that doubles as a 3D graphics Workstation when needed!?!?!? Just take a look and see how hard a full keyboard is to find on such a machine and it is really important for me and everything I want to do on my personal machine. Amazing! Good computer, but rather heavy – I’m a Mac guy, but I needed a Windows machine with good graphics capabilities. This fits the bill. It’s an excellent computer – fast and responsive, and with ample drive space, memory and ports. The primary negative is that it’s heavy, and I need to use it as a laptop and travel with it. If it mostly sits on your desk or you just move it at home from one surface to another, then it works very well as a desktop substitute.

fast, quiet and powerful – This laptop is fast and powerful. The fan is also very quite and the surface where your hands sit while typing doesn’t heat up. The screen is nice and I also like the red backlit keyboard and number pad. The bulky connections are on the back, so it doesn’t interfere with having a separate mouse on the side. Its a bit heavy, but with all the features it’s worth the extra weight. So far so good!

First, and foremost, there is sleep. Dell has completely disabled it in favor of connected standby. So unless you shut your computer down, you are likely to pull the laptop out of your bag with a dead battery and the entire thing hot to the touch. This is unacceptable for a portable device. Additionally, battery life is mediocre, even for a gaming laptop, and the thermals are poorly designed. Even just browsing the web will leave this laptop too hot to sit in your laptop. And during gaming sessions, the fans will blow hot air right over your hands making the experience uncomfortable. Frankly there are are too many better options at this price point. I would suggest looking at those.

I got a defective laptop! – This laptop came with issues straight out of the box. For starters, five minutes into using it, I encountered several blue screen errors that would cause my computer to restart. Simple tasks such as surfing the web, downloading email attachments, or watching YouTube would trigger blue screen errors which would cause the computer to restart every dam time. I contacted Dell, and the support rep had me reset windows and update specific drivers. They had me update the bios too. And still, the blue screen errors persisted. To make a long story short, I got frustrated and returned the laptop and purchased another.
