Great speakers especially for the price – I frankly wasn’t expecting all that much from these speakers given the price and their size. I’m picky about sound quality and especially decent bass response which you just can’t get from a speaker this size without breaking the laws of physics. That said, these really sound great! Yes, I get better bass response from my Klipsch towers (duh!) but these sound better than any “computer speaker” I’ve ever had including the Bose Companion 2 Series III’s. I also like the Bluetooth connection – I have 3 computers in service at the moment and the Bluetooth connection means I don’t have to keep switching a physical cable from one to the other. Kudos to Creative Labs for another great product!

Bass heavy – The sound is pretty bass heavy, wherein the treble gets sorta lost. Instrumental music sounds really nice, but music with voices, the voices sound low and muffled compared to the instruments. Same for tv show/movie audio quality, the voices aren’t clear enough while the music and sound effects boom a little too loud. What I did to make it work was use an aux splitter and have another speaker plugged in at the same time which has practically no bass, so they balance out if I put the pebble speakers on low volume and the other one louder. They’re definitely not the worst speakers. If I wasn’t picky about the muffled voice issue I could use the pebble speakers by themselves and be okay. It’s decent for the price.

Which is best?! Comparison of ALL Pebble speakers: V1 vs V2 vs V3 – Update: I also bought the v2.1 to test. This is the version with no passive radiator and has the high gain switch and a small bass module that sits under your desk. This model has significantly more head room in the bass section than the v1 and even the v3. These sounded best when utilizing a graphic EQ to push the frequencies below 60hz. The overall timbre of the speaker was very similar to the V1 (read my review below for that). This is hands down the best pebble speaker set. The bass module is not powered but it does provide more headroom and less distortion than “passive radiators” ever could. Best of all it doesn’t color the beautiful midrange and high end of the V1. Just one cable and Bluetooth connection – I really like these little guys. The sound is perfect for watching videos, gaming and such. I wouldn’t use these speakers to listed to really loud music as they do not reach a really high volume, but unless you are a heavy metal fan and like to annoy any of your neighbours these speakers are definitely great. What I like about them is that you don’t have to connect 100 cables to the computer (it’s just one) and you can connect any device using Bluetooth to play music or such, so you can pretty much just plug them into the wall and play music with your phone using Bluetooth
